It is a pleasure to introduce you to the platform for Colombia's Climate Finance Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) System.
This platform is an information portal that helps show what public and private, national and international resources are used in Colombia for the implementation of actions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting climate change adaptation. The platform reports climate finance information from the Climate Finance MRV System, which is an initiative of the
National Department of Planning (DNP) that was developed in coordination with the
Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADS), and the
Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM), in collaboration with the
World Resources Institute (WRI) and its technical partner the
Latin America and the Caribbean Climate Finance Group (GFLAC). This platform was originally developed as part of the
Green Climate Fund Readiness Program funded by the Federal
Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety of Germany.
The platform contains five (5) information modules:
"About the platform" presents the Climate Finance MRV System and its platform.
"Climate Finance in Colombia" contains an overview of the status of climate finance in the country. It includes a variety of sources of finance such as public, private, national, and international.
"Domestic public finance" contains information on climate finance from the domestic public sector.
"International public finance" presents information on climate change actions financed with international public resources (both multilateral and bilateral).
"Private finance" comprises information related to climate finance coming from the private sector (both for-profit and non-profit).
The platform provides climate finance information in three ways: maps that georeference climate finance information; summaries of project information; graphics and tables that present analysis of information; and infographics with aggregate data. All this aims to facilitate access, understanding, and use of the information.
